Further Applications of Social Cognition to Göbekli Tepe

Abstract Göbekli Tepe is an archaeological site that has challenged much prior thought on human history with respect to our Neolithic revolution from animistic, egalitarian, hunter-gatherers settled, socially stratified, and religious peoples. In the present paper we review structures possible purposes of Tepe, summarize past considerations connection between psychological concepts matters found thereat, then introduce social identity theory as apt theoretical perspective which best understand peoples who constructed utilized site. Throughout show social-cognitive processes have merit in interpreting advent utility suggesting a greater use for psychology within framework cognitive archaeology.
